i’d forgotten about this…it was stuck in a file of surfer shots that i took at 2nd light back in march…i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, i need to work on my workflow organization…awesome shots get lost in the shuffle…sigh…but at least i unearthed this pretty tern…he’s clearly after something, maybe his lunch…maybe he just wants to get away from me…

usually my boy will be the one to run into the flock of shorebirds and send them flying off…but he was in school today…his spring break isn’t until next week, but his dad (who is a virtual high school teacher in another district) is on break this week…so when we happened upon this large group of royal terns enjoying a fine central florida morning, dad stood in for the boy and interrupted their rest…they didn’t fly off too far, just down the beach a little way…unfortunately for them, however, we had to walk past them again on our way back to our umbrella and chairs, so their rest was interrupted twice…we went beachside hoping to see surfers…when we arrived, all we saw were birdies…but while we were there, the conditions improved and the surfers arrived…worth the wait, with more pics to come…

when the morning weather forecast calls for 4-6″ waves in february (well, anytime of the year, but especially in february) it becomes necessary to make time in the day to head beachside…yesterday was such a day, so even though i had a ton to do, i made it beachside for a little while…i was not disappointed, as there were decent waves and great surfers…an added bonus was the variety of military and civilian planes landing at patrick afb across the street…it’s always cool to catch surfers, birds and planes in one shot…i caught a few of those…haven’t gotten to processing any of them yet…for now, i’m working on the surfers…i like this one…more to come, so stay tuned!:)

surfing with the pelicanssurfing with the pelicans

my mind is still wandering while preparing for tomorrow’s feast…thinking about how cool it must be to be surfing and have a bunch of pelicans fly past…if i were just a little bit younger (or just a little more daring…well, maybe one day…)
